Re-Homing

Re-Homing dogs can be productive and full of compassion. Many dogs find themselves in homes full of love and patience. On the other hand, many dogs are returned to insufficient environments. When this happens, the dogs suffering continues, just in a new location and new pack return.

Many people have good intentions, but the outcome disastrous. When people re-home dogs to the wrong environment, this is unintentional cruelty.

Once the dog is gone, it’s no longer their problem.

Over 35 years of training dogs has taught me one thing: re-homing animals is largely done by well intentioned people. I’m saddened to see so many nice people doing so much damage and never realizing it. If you ever have to re-home your dog for any reason, consider these options:

  • - First, does the dog currently have proper pack order in place?
  • - Is the dog social to everyone and all animals?
  • - If the answer is “No” STOP!

It’s time to consider re-homing to people who have knowledge, time and resources to help their dog recover. All other people should be excluded from selection. If you are struggling with a dog and their behavior, please call me and I will help you immediately do the right thing.

For all the properly educated re-homers, you have my admiration and respect.
